NZIODA Membership

Why join NZIODA?

NZIODA organizes and promotes Optimist sailing in NZ, and liaises with other countries sailing Optimists.
All Optimist sailors who wish to race in national and NZIODA nominated ranking regattas, must be current financial members of NZIODA (Rule 4.7).
NZIODA has website with valuable information to keep you in touch.
By banding together we are able to organize the services of top (international) coaches to travel the country and improve skills.

How much does it cost?
Cost of membership is $30.00 per family per year.
Membership runs from 1st September to 31st August of the following year.

Charter boats

Those sailors wishing to charter boats for regattas in NZ must charter through one of the approved New Zealand charter companies below.
This requirement is outlined by regatta organisers in their Notice of Race and will apply to the 2010 Optimist Nationals Championships.

Change of Boat Ownership & Measurement

All optimists are required to have up to date ownership papers. Information on NZIODA services and costs can be found here.

NZIODA Team Selection Process & Class Development 2009/10

Over the 2008/09 season a selection process for Optimist teams traveling overseas was introduced. A ranking system is now used, with the selected regattas notified at the start of the season so as many sailors as possible can participate in the ranking regattas.
